Peter Braid

Peter Braid was elected Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Waterloo in October 2008, and re-elected on May 2, 2011. He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Communities on September 19, 2013.

Peter attended both the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto, and graduated from the latter in 1989 with a degree in International Relations. He has a diverse background in both government and the private sector, including work experience in the constituency office of the Hon. Walter McLean; at the Immigration and Refugee Board; and as a Director of Operations at Sun Life Financial.

In Ottawa, as Parliamentary Secretary, Peter provides leadership at the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. He previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Government Operations and Estimates Committee, as well as a member of the Industry, Science and Technology Committee. In addition, he is a Vice-Chair of both the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association and the Canada-China Legislative Association, Co-Chair of the Canada-Scotland Friendship Group, and Chair of the Conservative Insurance Caucus.

As Member of Parliament, Peter envisions the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo as a dynamic, prosperous, and caring community. He has built solid partnerships with many businesses and organizations in our region, and believes that collaboration is the key to achieving our full potential.
